How Do I Add Images to a Post?

You can add images to your posts directly from the Compose page.

As of v0.6.3 (2025-10-07), Postful supports single image and multi-image (“carousel”) posts for all available networks. Other media types are coming soon.

Uploading images stored on your local device #

  1. In the Compose page, go to the section labeled Add Images.
  2. Click Upload Image.
  3. Select My Files from the navigation at the top of the modal
  4. Click Browse to select a file or files from your device or Drag and Drop an image into the upload area.
  5. When the image is uploaded successfully, you will be returned to the Compose page automatically and the image will appear below the text area.

Adding image via URL #

  1. Select Web Address from the navigation at the top of the Upload Image modal.
  2. Type or paste the URL of the image you want to add to your post.
  3. When the image is retrieved successfully, you will be returned to the Compose page automatically and the image will appear below the text area.

Adding stock image #

Automatically add stock images with Find image for me #

Postful provides an experimental feature to automate stock image search called “Find image for me”. Find image for me uses the text content of your post to select a stock image from Unsplash.

To use this feature, you need to have written content in your post already. Note: The Find image for me button is only active when sufficient text is present.

Click the “Find image for me” button to the right of “Upload image” and the system will grab an image for Unsplash.

As an experimental feature, we are looking to refine the experience. If you have feedback, please reach out: support@postful.ai

Manually #

  1. Select Unsplash from the navigation at the top of the Upload Image modal.
  2. Click Connect to Unsplash
  3. Type a search query into to the textbox and browse images.
  4. Select an image by clicking it and then clicking Next.
  5. Use the Select Format & Size dropdown to select the image size you want to use.
    • Note: Social networks have file size and dimension requirements. Postful automatically downsizes images that are too large to ensure they can be uploaded to your networks. We recommend selecting small or medium format images to eliminate or reduce distortion from image compression.
  6. Click Upload to add the image to you post. When the image is retrieved successfully, you will be returned to the Compose page automatically and the image will appear below the text area.

Adding an Image from Your Camera #

  1. Select Camera from the navigation at the top of the Upload Image modal.
  2. Grant your browser permission to access your camera when prompted.
  3. Click Capture to take a photo.
  4. If you want to retake the image, click Cancel to return to step 3.
  5. Click Upload when you are satisfied. The image will be processed and added to the post automatically.

Editing images #

To edit an image, click the pencil icon in the upper right of the image you wish to edit.

In the modal you have the ability to select image cropping presets and perform freeform cropping, image rotation, and image reflection.

Once you are satisfied with your edits, click Export to save you changes and return to the Compose page.

More image editing options are forthcoming. Reach out if you have specific requests or needs for image editing.

Reordering images #

To reorder images, click and hold the image you want to move. Drag the image to the position within the group of images.

Images in a multi-image posts display left to right based on network specific requirements. Consult post preview to view how a multi-image post will display on a given network.
