Found at the top of the left sidebar, Brainstorm helps you create and refine social media posts with the support of generative AI.

Creating posts #

1. Go to Brainstorm in the top of the left sidebar
   • Note: Brainstorm default view when logging into Postful
2. Enter a prompt or idea into the text box at the top of the page. Your can even use a link!
3. Click Generate
4. Review the draft posts that appear below the textbox.
   • You can preview the full text of a post by clicking the post card directly.
   • You can generate up to 12 posts based on a single starting point by clicking “Load More Posts”
5. To select a post for further editing, click “Use this content”
6. To generate a new set of posts based on a different starting prompt or idea, click Start Over in the textbox. Doing so will erase your content and delete existing generated posts. Note: to expand on an idea, copy the contents of the textbox.

Using post prompt templates #

Postful provides six post prompt templates to help structure your post generation. Templates help you create posts in specific styles (e.g., customer spotlight, tips, behind the scenes).

1. Choose a template by clicking the template card. The template will be added to the text field at the top of Brainstorm.
2. Edit the template within the textbox by adding your information to the bracketed (e.g. {{TOPIC}}) components. Note: you can add additional information or details beyond the template fields.
3. When you are ready click Generate to create your posts.

Refining posts with “More Like This” #

“More Like This” is a feature within Brainstorm to refine generated posts. “More Like This” uses an existing generated post as a starting point and creates new derivative posts with additional direction.

Best practices #

Edit/update profile and audience information #

During onboarding, Postful gathers information about you or your business and your audience. This information is used create relevant posts through the application. To ensure, generated posts are relevant, be sure to review, edit, and update your profile and audience information.

Add context #

While Postful uses your profile and audience information automatically, adding more details ensures posts are on-target. Especially for domain specific terms or domain specific uses of words, adding context helps produce more appropriate outcomes.

Use templates #

Start with provided templates to quickly structure prompts. We’ll continue expanding the template library over time.

Clarify intent #

If you want a post to drive a specific action (like a call-to-action), include that in your prompt. This helps the system generate clearer, more purposeful posts. This is especially important for derivative posts where specific characteristics need to be amplified, diminished, added, or removed to meet your needs.
